Most periodontists don’t have anesthesiologists manage their IV sedation – We’re not most periodontists.
You see it advertised everywhere: Intra-venous (IV) Sedation Dentistry. But the truth is, many periodontists are using IV sedation without the services of a board-certified anesthesiologist. Instead, the doctor chooses to supervise the anesthesia as he or she performs the surgery.
While Drs. Sayed and are both fully qualified, trained and credentialed in IV sedation, we choose to take the safe—and we believe superior—route for our patients. We focus 100% of our attention on your surgery, while our board-certified anesthesiologist is 100% focused on monitoring and managing your breathing, heart rate and level of consciousness.
At Pristine Periodontics and Implants, we are fully committed to providing you with the highest level of care. And, since having an anesthesiologist is the safest and best way to do IV Sedation, it’s the only way we do it.

Levels of sedation.
Minimal sedation: You’re awake but verrry relaxed.
Moderate sedation: Formerly called “conscious sedation.” You may slur your words when speaking and not remember the procedure.
Moderate IV sedation: The sedative drug is delivered through a vein so it goes to work more quickly and levels are able to be continuously adjusted.
Sleep sedation: You’re on the edge of consciousness but can still be awakened.
General anesthesia: Delivered through an IV; you are completely unconscious.
