The Dental Implant Process

Dental Implants: High success and low pain.

Dental implants are an esthetically pleasing, highly functional, permanent solution to missing teeth with a success rate of over 98% in healthy people. We use the most advanced, patient-centered techniques to make rebuilding your smile as painless as possible. After numbing, the surgery is virtually pain-free, often easier than tooth extraction itself.

Every patient and every tooth is different. Working in partnership with your dentist, we will create a treatment plan designed just for you. Treatment plans vary depending upon circumstances, including whether we will need to rebuild the implant site before placement. But implantation generally requires three basic steps:

The implantation process. First, the implant is placed into the jawbone. The implant itself is a small post made from titanium, a metal that bonds with bone. And over the next 12 weeks, your jawbone will grow around the post to form a secure anchor for your new tooth.

Once the implant has fused firmly with your bone (a process known as osseo integration), a small component called an abutment is attached to the post. The abutment connects the implant to your crown, or replacement tooth.

Then we affix the crown to the abutment with dental cement or a tiny screw. Crowns look and feel like your original teeth because they match your natural tooth shape, size and color. You brush and floss them like you would real teeth. With proper care, your implant(s) could last a lifetime.

In some cases, several steps may be combined to reduce your number of appointments. Find out more by contacting Dr. Sayed today.
